The e-commerce business has also been ordered by the same organisation to deposit Rs 45,000 into the consumer welfare fund, ET Bureau reported. Myntra was found guilty by the Bengaluru Urban Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for unfair trade practices in the case of Mercedes-Benz employee Roopini Nagaraj who received a gift card for Myntra worth Rs 52,000 from her work.

Nagaraj found that, after making a few transactions, the rest of her gift card balance had disappeared, TNN reported. Nagaraj escalated the issue with Myntra on August 28 but the business did not deactivate her account on the platform until November 14. An investigation found that someone else had accessed her account to spend her gift card balance. The court questioned if it was possible that Myntra employees had taken advantage of the system to misuse Nagaraj’s balance.

The business was also found guilty of canceling an order by consumer Komal Santoshkumar who tried to purchase two gold coins on Myntra last year. Santoshkumar told the court that neither the coins were delivered nor the money refunded. The court ordered Myntra to either deliver the two gold coins to Santoshkumar or refund the Rs 63,768 with 10% interest from May last year until the date of payment as well as pay other damages.
