Luxury watch brand Bangalore Watch Company plans to open two new brick-and-mortar stores in the coming few months. Currently bootstrapped, the business plans to raise initial funding to fuel growth.
Along with opening two exclusive brand outlets in the near future, the Bangalore Watch Company plans to continue to launch stores in the coming three years, ET Bureau reported. Along with expanding its brick-and-mortar presence, the business plans to continue to widen its international reach online. The Bangalore Watch Company’s direct to customer e-commerce store currently ships to over 30 countries globally.
“We wanted high-quality watches from India matching the Swiss quality,” Bangalore Watch Company’s creative director and co-founder Nirupesh Joshi told ET Retail. “Further, we wanted to break the stereotype of the design language used in Indian watches… There is a small niche consumer who already own Swiss watches, an Omega, and a Rolex in their collection, but now want to have something which can become a conversation piece. This consumer will come to Bangalore Watch Company.”
The Bangalore Watch Company is also keen to pursue innovation in watchmaking and recently tested its ‘Apogee’ watch in space, the brand announced on Facebook. Earlier this year, the business affixed a timepiece from its Apogee Karman line to a high-altitude hydrogen balloon which took the watch to 1.14 lakh feet into the atmosphere and its survival upon descending has led the brand to name it ‘The Indian Space Watch’.
“Throughout the spaceflight, the watch maintained impeccable timekeeping, showing no signs of condensation or other issues,” announced the brand on Facebook. “It withstood the intense pressure and temperature fluctuations of its space journey and return to earth.”
